Target Debit and Credit Card Breach

The security of your Desert Schools card is our top priority.

Desert Schools has been informed by Visa® of a security breach focused on credit and debit card transactions occurring at Target from November 27 through December 15.

You can continue using your Visa card. If we receive information from Visa® that your card was compromised, we’ll determine the appropriate next steps.

We are always working to protect your financial information. Here’s how:

• We use sophisticated fraud-monitoring tools to review account transactions and detect abnormal spending and ATM patterns. That helps us block fraudulent transactions.
• All your Desert Schools Visa® Debit cards have our Zero Liability Protection. That means you’re not liable for unauthorized transactions if you spot them and let us know in a timely manner.
• You can enroll in our free Online and Mobile Banking Alerts through the Mobile Banking & Alerts tab in Online Banking. By enrolling, we can notify you about specific activity in your account.

Other Steps You Can Take

Monitor your banking activity
We encourage you to monitor your account using Online Banking or our mobile app. If you believe your account has been compromised, you should call us at (602) 433-7000 or visit any Desert Schools branch Location.

Avoid Phishing Scams
Recently it has been reported that phishing emails are being sent that appear to be from Target. These emails warn the recipient that they may have had their card compromised. You should proceed with caution if you receive an email that appears to be from Target.  Do not open any links that may be included in these e-mails as that could potentially allow additional access to your personal information.

To view all official communication from Target or for current information on the data breach, please visit Target for the latest news.

If you have a Target REDcard linked to your Desert Schools checking account
Please contact Target. You do not need to close your Desert Schools checking account, but you should monitor the account for fraudulent activity. For more information, please visit Target’s Official Statement page.

If you used your Desert Schools Visa® credit card at Target
You do not need to close or cancel your credit card, but you should monitor the account for fraudulent activity. You can contact Elan Financial Services at (866) 289-1567 and monitor your account activity at www.myaccountaccess.com if you have concerns.
