When was the last time you checked your credit?
What should you look for on your credit report?
Do you know how to request error corrections?

Credit is an integral part of life, from buying a house to receiving top rates; so, Desert Schools wants to ensure you can make the most of your Credit Reports. For instance, every 12 months you are eligible for a free copy from the three major credit bureaus: Equifax, Experian and TransUnion. Simply click the button below; then, at the minimum, please verify that the information in the box is accurately detailed on your Credit Reports:

Credit Reports
  • Full name
  • Social Security number
  • Current and past addresses
  • Employer
  • Credit inquiries
  • Active and past accounts

Credit Score
If you also wish to obtain your FICO credit score, you may do so online from all three credit bureaus.1 You will also have access to resources that can help you understand your scores (yes, they may be different for each bureau) and how to improve them, if necessary.

Reporting Errors
If inaccuracies exist (e.g., accounts you didn't open or unexplained debts on legitimate accounts), you lose any personal information or you suspect identity theft, notify all three credit bureaus immediately via telephone and in writing. Access our Reporting Fraud page for additional resources.

Credit Report Review
Desert Schools wants to help you save money by providing a free credit report review to determine if we may be able to refinance your existing loans at lower interest rates.2 If you have any questions regarding our free review, simply email freecreditreview@desertschools.org.

1Certain fees may apply.
2This is not a guaranteed offer of credit. Loan applications are subject to approval and require Desert Schools to pull a new credit report from Experian for verification.
