Would you like tips for creating solid credit? 

Perhaps, you are excited about the prospect of having a credit card. Maybe you would like to start fresh after some previous credit challenges. Desert Schools wants you to start out on the right foot. Check our Calendar for free, upcoming credit workshops in your area. In addition, below are some helpful tips for properly building credit.

Building Credit
  • Establish a savings account for emergencies
  • Carefully read the terms of any credit offer
  • Pay your balance in full, whenever possible
  • Or at least keep the balance under 50% of your limit
  • Send in payments in advance of the due date
  • Limit your number of cards, preferably to one or two
  • Check statements as soon as you receive them
  • Obtain and review your credit report periodically
  • Avoid using credit for everyday purchases
  • List account/phone numbers in a safe place, in case of loss
